Staying active looks different for everyone — especially as we age. For Lara Morris, movement isn’t about perfection or performance. It’s about consistency, confidence, and caring for your body in ways that support long-term health.

As an independent agent with Health Insurance & Retirement Advocates (HIRA) and a longtime instructor in the health and fitness industry, Lara has made movement a personal priority throughout her own health journey. Recently, she shared a short series of videos highlighting simple body-weight movements that help support balance, strength, and mobility — all using minimal space and no special equipment.

These videos offer encouragement and ideas for staying active in everyday life, especially for older adults who want to move with intention and confidence.

Mobility plays a critical role in overall wellness as we get older. Everyday movements — standing up from a chair, reaching overhead, or maintaining balance while walking — rely on strength, flexibility, and coordination working together.

According to widely accepted health research, regular movement can help:

  • Support balance and stability

  • Maintain muscle strength

  • Improve joint flexibility

  • Reduce the risk of falls

  • Promote independence in daily activities

By using her own body weight and focusing on controlled, intentional movement, Lara demonstrates how fitness doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful.

Core Engagement & Functional Movement

In this clip, Lara highlights movements that encourage core engagement — an important component of overall balance and coordination. The core isn’t just about abdominal muscles; it includes the muscles that help stabilize the spine and support posture.

Flexibility, Range of Motion & Confidence in Movement

This video showcases movements that promote flexibility and joint mobility. Maintaining range of motion can be especially important as we age, helping joints move more comfortably through daily tasks like reaching, bending, or turning.

At HIRA, we believe health and retirement planning go hand in hand. Staying active, informed, and engaged in your own well-being can support a more confident future — physically and financially.

A Note Before Starting Any New Fitness Routine

Before beginning any new exercise or movement routine, it’s important to consult with your physician or qualified healthcare provider. Everyone’s health needs and physical abilities are different, and what works for one person may not be appropriate for another.

Lara’s videos are shared for inspirational purposes only and reflect her personal wellness journey — not medical or fitness advice. Learn more about Lara Morris and her work with Health Insurance & Retirement Advocates.
